Before Chaste’y Rayford Gibson understood purpose, she understood survival. She thought the yellow roses were celebrating her. Years later, she realized the roses were revealing something much bigger.

She knew what it meant to grow up with questions she couldn't answer, wounds she didn't know how to name, financial hardship, loss, and the belief that depending on herself was safer than depending on anyone else. So she learned to survive.
